Wore Out

This is the first Black Friday that I was out intent to purchase.  Driving to Madelia, I was shocked finding out that Kunz Appliances were no longer in business.  I made a quick stop at home to allow Dennis to know I was going on to Fairmont to Dan’s Appliances.  Yup, you guessed.  We had need for a new refrigerator.

I had gone online and looked.  I had called the big box stores in Mankato, and yes, they will take your money and the item will be delivered sometime in February.  Hmm.  It came down to the fact that I want to look, touch and try out all the moving parts of something that I would be purchasing.  Due to the small area we have for a refrigerator, the pickings were small.  I did have a choice of three to look, touch and try out all the moving parts.  Seeing as we have a chimney in close proximity to the open door of a refrigerator, the French doors on one with the freezer on the bottom, filled the bill.  It didn’t take long and the sale was complete.

Next Wednesday we will have a new refrigerator in our home, installed and the old one taken away.  Not having to wait for items coming from afar is a good thing.  I have someone close at hand if I have any type of issue on this purchase.  This was an experience I had not had in decades.  The last several refrigerators were second hand.  An appliance with a warranty.  Wow!

After I came home from Fairmont, Dennis asked me why I had not put the car in the garage.  I was taking the next item off of my tick list.  I collected my mailables and headed for the post office. All of that which I had prepared for multiple locations is off to be delivered.  I have avoided the rush that will soon be upon the post office.

It’s a good thing we have leftovers for supper.  It has been exhausting spending money today on Black Friday.  Last week it was a hot-water heater and this week a new toy for the kitchen . . . that is about all of the excitement Stauffer Avenue needs for quite some time.

The best part is that we will be having mild weather this week.  When I have been out and about today, there is still the sounds of people using chainsaws and working on new construction items.
