Oh My
Oh my! When you least expect a text, one comes at six in the morning. Dennis’ daughter from Casey’s called and offered to take her dad, Dennis, to his Mankato Appointment this forenoon. With the cold wind ruffling the huge evergreen outside of my bedroom, how could I refuse that type of offer.
Dennis’ appointment was for 10:15 this morning and he had told me last night to be ready by 8:30. I have long since stopped arguing about the time needed from St. James to Mankato. The funny thing is that I usually have a hard time waking him up for such event. Let me tell you, Dennis is not a morning person. A side-note on this is that when he was a live poultry transportoligst hauling chickens from west of the Rockies for Campbell Soup, he was always leaving early in case of something less than good happening. Old habits die hard.
Denise said she would pick her dad up at 9:15. I thought he would pace the floor boards bare. He finally stood in the open door-way of the car garage, waiting. When Denise pulled into the drive, the car was still showing signs of momentum and Dennis was at the car’s passenger door. I knew right there and then his hip was on target for good healing. Too funny not to relay.
The report was good from the surgery point of view. He needs to go back in two months. X-rays here in St. James with a follow-up in Mankato.
Denise found a new place to eat in Mankato as Dennis was taking Denise out for lunch. There appears to be a new truck-stop in the area of the Walmart distribution center. Dennis, taking after my dad, ordered a pork roast commercial while Denise did the burger and fries. When he got home, he asked me to guess what the bill was. I guessed $25.00, similar to what our bill would be at Perkins. Nope . . . $36.00 and some odd cents. I chuckled. The ole cowboy was still living the truck-stop prices of when he was on the road with his 18-wheeler. Denise said he slept all the way home. Too funny.
All is well here on Stauffer Avenue. It may be chilly out but from the sounds of both coasts of the great USA it could be much different.
Dennis is in the patio porch and I see Snuggles has found a lap and a jacket to burrow into.
With that I will take my leave. ♥
