New Road Trip
Dennis’ 1966 Galaxie went for a new road trip today. It will be making its home in Buffalo, Minnesota. The process of going through Craigslist went fast. Within half an hour Dennis had a firm commitment from the buyer and the amount that Dennis wanted for the transaction. The buyer was here this morning by 10:00 a.m. It is amazing what can happen within 24 hours. Blink, blink!
This was not a spur of the moment for Dennis to let his convertible go. He began talking about it in 2015. Up until yesterday when Dennis asked me to put the car on Craigslist, he had had an emotional attachment to it. It sounds kind of silly, but . . . if you love something enough, you are willing to let go of it when in your heart it feels right. Dennis’ heart felt good as the convertible went down Stauffer Avenue on its way to a new home. Dennis had taken the car to York, Nebraska, last fall to see his nephew and that was pretty much the last time the car had had a good run. Dennis has had a good run with it over the years and the young fellow that has purchased it was thrilled to find a Minnesota car that didn’t have any rust. For the car’s lifetime it had always been right here in Watonwan County. When Dennis had gotten it out of the barn at Bill Sandberg’s, it had more dust on it than could be believed. Spit and polish was all it needed. The young fellow has no intentions of changing anything on it.
Today is Saturday and of course the weekend days, as of late, have been less than wonderful. It is humid enough that at any moment the clouds look as if they could give us some much needed rain.
Let the day bring what it wants. Having a day without harm is a blessing that oh so many in America are not feeling. Praise be to God.
